Assess an older installation before choosing corrections

An inspection report, an insurance request or the discovery of older wiring can raise questions. A material’s name alone does not establish the condition of the entire installation or the work required. Share the observations and available documents so the assessment scope can be defined.

Start with existing documents

Provide the precise wording of the insurer’s request or inspection observation, removing unnecessary personal information. Identify the affected areas and known renovations. Avoid replacing these documents with a conclusion drawn from a photo online: installations and recipients’ requirements may differ.

Separate an observation from a diagnosis

An assessment examines a situation and determines what needs to be checked. It does not automatically promise certification, complete rewiring or the same solution for every building. Corrective methods and insurer acceptance must be confirmed for the actual job, particularly when older wiring or aluminum is mentioned.

Arrange access without handling equipment

Explain where the areas to be examined are located and who can authorize access. Do not remove equipment covers or handle wiring to prepare the enquiry. If a renovation includes opening walls, provide the schedule so the assessment and other work can be coordinated.

Prepare your enquiry

  • Report or written request to be addressed
  • Affected spaces and known renovations
  • Person responsible for access
  • Required document and intended recipient

Frequently asked questions

Does aluminum wiring always require complete replacement?

That conclusion cannot be made here. The condition, configuration and scope requirements need professional assessment.

Can you guarantee my insurer will accept a report?

No. First ask the insurer what it requires and share that request. The scope and documentation to be supplied must be agreed.
