Put outlets and circuits where they are needed
Outlet locations should reflect how a room will be used: cooking, working, doing laundry or running particular equipment. Réjean Électrique handles residential circuit and outlet additions. Share the layout and equipment plans before finishes are installed so the electrical scope can be assessed.
Describe equipment as well as outlet locations
An outlet for a home office and the supply for a particular appliance do not necessarily involve the same work. Provide equipment references, intended locations and the uses you expect to run together. An electrician can assess circuit and protection requirements; spare positions in a panel do not, by themselves, establish the available capacity.
Plan the cable route and finishing work
The route between the panel and the room, basement access and the condition of finished walls all affect planning. If a kitchen or bathroom is being renovated, send available plans before the walls are closed. State who will handle openings and finish repairs so estimates can be compared on the same scope.
Assess an existing fault separately
A damaged outlet, repeated interruptions or an installation that concerns you needs an assessment rather than an automatic extra outlet. Describe when the issue occurs without dismantling equipment to investigate. The service enquiry can then distinguish a repair from a modification or new circuit.
Prepare your enquiry
- Room and intended equipment locations
- Make or model of the equipment to be supplied
- Known access to the panel and cable routes
- Renovation plans and responsibility for finish repairs
Frequently asked questions
Does a new outlet always require a new circuit?
That depends on the intended use and existing installation. Have the requirements assessed rather than assuming an extra outlet can be added to any circuit.
Should I open the panel for a photo?
No. Do not remove covers or touch components to prepare an enquiry. Information available without handling equipment is enough to start the conversation.
